Welcome!

This site was created by the folks in the Office of Educational Technology at the New Hampshire Department of Education. It is a collaborative work space to encourage educators, students, parents, business leaders, and citizens of New Hampshire to help us think about the future of learning for K-12 students in our state.

How should K-12 students be taught?

As we approach the year 2009, we approach the end of the first decade of the 21st century. It's hard to imagine life without the Internet, cell phones in our pockets, computers that come in all sizes and with all kinds of features, online courses and online schools, digital check-out counters at grocery stores, Nintendos, Wiis, Xboxes, and digital TVs with cable or satellite service. With all of these things surrounding our students and permeating our everyday lives, it is important to envision how our students should be taught as digital citizens. Using this site, you can share your own ideas about learning and tell us what you think should be our state's main efforts around creating 21st century schools.

How can you contribute?

  1. Browse through the site. If you get lost while browsing, just click the site title name to get back to the table of contents. You will see the contents of the current New Hampshire State Educational Technology Plan, which was originally created and approved in 2002. It is this plan that needs to be updated. We need your help, your best ideas, your concerns, and your suggestions of other great resources.
  2. You'll notice you can add comments about each paragraph or whole sections of the plan. This is the main reason we chose this CommentPress format -- we want your comments! When you feel like you are ready to share your thoughts, you might want to click on the "help" link at the top right corner of one of the comment boxes.
  3. We have also set up a wiki format for comments at nhedtechplan.wetpaint.com. Since we are experimenting to find the best way to do this, we'd love to hear which one you prefer to use.
  4. So read on and welcome to the community!
